Chad Freitas
Hello A-Cat Class Officers and Owners of Boats Listed for Sale,
My name is Chad Freitas, I help to run the Skiff Sailing Foundation here in SF Bay. We have been involved in mostly 18's, 49er's and 29er's. Two years ago, Davi generously donated his XJ to our 501c3. We later received a Waterrat. Hundreds of people since have been exposed to the A Cat on SF Bay whether sailing these boats or watching them fly by. The Waterrat was certainly the most sailed cat on the bay in 2011. At least 35 competitive racers have sailed one of the two boats out of Richmond YC for their first time. Many of these were experienced skiff sailors, and some Jrs. For the majority, this was their first ever Catamaran sailing.

Hull Speed

After years of use, A cats often get beat up and need a little attention. The hull bottoms get the worst of the wear and those unsightly scratch, dings and scraps just have to go. Painting and re-fairing a boat is a time consuming, costly procedure if done professionally. But there is a way to resurface the bottom of you're a cat in your own garage with no spray equipment or air compressor.
Many of you might have seen A cats painted with a black/ dark gray bottom, The surface coating is most like called Hullspeed. This epoxy, silicon paint is purposely designed to reduce friction and making your craft go faster through the water. I have applied Hullspeed to 3 of my A cats with good success. I understand it might not appeal to everyone, especially those who like plain white boats.

Mexico was in turmoil as leaders attempted to determine an optimal form of government. In 1835, when President Antonio López de Santa Anna abolished the Constitution of 1824, granting himself enormous powers over the government, wary colonists in Texas began forming Committees of Correspondence and Safety. In the Mexican interior, several states revolted against the new centralist policies.
The Texas Revolution officially began on October 2, 1835, in the Battle of Gonzales.

Letter from the President:
Hello fellow A Class Sailors and welcome to 2012. This is my first letter to you as your new Class President, so I wanted to take the time to introduce myself as well as cover current business with the class. My first official act as incoming class president is to publically thank the outgoing class president Bob Hodges for the great leadership he provided over the last seven years. The US fleet has grown in number and quality and is well positioned for further growth thanks to Bob's and the rest of the class officer's efforts. This year the combination of the America's Cup warm up events held around the world in boats that bear a remarkable likeness to A cats on steroids, and the US again hosting the A Class worlds in Islamorada Florida this October are forming a near perfect opportunity to help generate interest in multihull sailing and help grow the US A class fleet. I hope we can leverage these opportunities to grow the class and help build the class bank account to support future growth.
